Aftermath of my adventures as a Bratz doll:

(unfortunately you can’t see my totally cute mini-backpack)

Thanks to Faux King Awesome and Ivan’s friend Eric for these.  Also, video thanks to I have no idea who:

Also, here’s the commercial that I really wanted to do, but 20 minutes before I left for the Cinch I realized that I’d left Thrift Town without buying the pampered puppy stuffed animal that was perfect.  And I also had this one planned, but had to cut it because someone was a no-show.

Seriously, these have made me sick: I couldn’t fall asleep on Saturday night because I couldn’t get the goddamned jingles out of my head.

(And, all due respect to Bobby and Angela who held a party called “Tweens & Queens,” when, in fact, they lived in Queens.  Genius.)

Last night I had the strangest dream

Posted by Lil Miss Hot Mess on September 14, 2009

Last night I had a very vivid dream wherein I became rich and famous for, get this, writing a fictionalized account of a friendship with none other than Ricky Martin.  I believe the book was called “My Life with Ricky Martin, A Novel” or “Ricky Martin and Me, A Novel” or something to that effect.  So weird, right? And, like, I knew it was fictional, and so did everyone else, and it was just absolutely genre-pushing.  Ground-breaking even.  I’m talking Today Show appearances, and academics writing about me.  The real deal.

It’s strange because I don’t have particularly strong feelings about Ricky Martin.  I also don’t really have aspirations of being a novelist.  I feel like some people have hot sex dreams with celebrities, and I have obscure literary fantasies with B-listers.  Oh well.

I do sort of think it’s a genius idea though.  Maybe this will be my big break and I’ll be able to say that it literally came to me in a dream.  So back off, bitches.  If any of you steal this idea, I will come after you.  That’s a promise, not a threat.

Patricia Smith

Posted by Lil Miss Hot Mess on September 13, 2009

I’m not really an NPR-junkie, but I am a little bit of an NPR-junkie wannabe.  Today I was driving home from the east bay and heard this show featuring the 4-time National Slam Champion Patricia Smith.  Two words: blown away.  If you have time, listen for a bit.  Her poem “Skinhead” is phenomenal and frightening (note: it may be more than a little triggering).  It haunted me the entire way home.  Thankfully it was raining, because I was this close to crying.
